MulmoTerminal compared with Claude Squad

Both bundle tmux and git worktrees. What differs is where they put the result.

Table of contents

Where Claude Squad fits

It stays inside the terminal — a Go TUI, no browser involved.

  • you would rather not leave the terminal
  • everything happens at the far end of a single ssh connection
  • one screen is all you want to give it

If any of those three describe you, Claude Squad is the more natural fit.

Where a browser fits

Leaving the terminal is the point.

  • reading the sessions from a phone or another machine
  • opening a file, a diagram or a PDF beside a cell
  • getting more room than a terminal gives

Closing the browser does not stop anything; tmux keeps running and the grid comes back.

How state is shown

Both surface session state.

MulmoTerminal separates finished from waiting on you — from Claude Code’s Notification hook and Codex’s PermissionRequest hook. Whether that distinction earns its keep depends on how long you leave sessions unattended.

When neither is needed

Two or three sessions run fine on tmux alone. See compared with tmux.
